I am a proud PENN user , and this is my first AVET reel , it feels stronger , and better in the hands and it has a customizable feel to it. Very durable and has a great / comfortable handle. Would recommend.

No Nonsense Reel

I'm an old school Penn Reels guy who still tries to keep my "Made in USA" Penn reels functioning. As those who know, this is becoming more difficult to do. Therefore as some of my tools become more and more obsolete, I looked for alternatives for replacement . I can think of no better replacements than Avet. American made workhorse reels that get the job done. Excessively strong drags with smooth start up inertia with a predictable adjustment lever. Simplistic in design which is exactly what a reel should be. I see myself eventually switching my entire arsenal over to Avets. Bravo!

I’ve owned the reel for about 3 years now, and it’s been dunked in the surf, dunked in several lakes and rivers and I’ve only serviced it once by myself. Super easy to maintain. I recommend the Avet brand to all my friends, very smooth reel and can cast a mile.
