Used this reel on a recent 8-day long range trip landing Yellowfin tuna to 90lbs with it. The reel performed flawlessly. Very satisfied with its performance.

- Under pressure it was sometimes difficult to change speeds, specifically from low to high.

Perfect SoCal Offshore Reel

Purchased this reel to fish 40# Topshot with 50# Backing for offshore Southern California. Plenty of drag and capacity - the freespool is amazing for a lever drag, making throwing jigs or casting a live bait to a paddy as easy as my star drag reels. I would need to spend several hundred dollars more to get this level of quality in another brand. Having the 2 speed option gives me the speed for working jigs and the power when I need to crank down on a tuna or tail that doesn't want to come up. Very impressed with this reel.

This reel looks good, it doesn't stand out while handling it.
Put a 20 plus pound gag grouper on the other end, then it's smooth and rock solid with enough drag to keep you connected.

Love the magnetic cast control for live lining and pitching baits. This is my 3rd Avet reel, they are cranking machines, and I really like that they are made in the USA and not in China.

By far i love the G2 series avets, I use mine for bottom fishing mostly. If your casting a lure you may want the MC series of reels, since the free spool is lightning fast. You get a lot of reel for the money.

Very smooth and powerful. Paired with a 20-50 lb line rated rod was able to easily catch and release a 7 foot Bull Nurse Shark

Was always a Penn guy but i switched over to an Avet after trying a friend of mines new one. These reels have great drag power behind them and will catch fish bigger than what they are rated for.

I have three Avets and I have used many....many..... more reels over the years! My buddy owns a charter boat, and another works on a party boat, plus i have my own boat, and bring guests all the time so i have the fortunate luxury of getting to try all kinds of reels and poles. Nothing really compares to these guys. They cost more money but it is worth it by a mile. These are reels that you buy if you want to hand them down to your kids and they hand them down to your grand kids! Just bought a 30/2 wide to add to my collection for sharking and WOW! no comparison! This line of reels is the New Penn in my opinion!

- great quality. Best drags on the market. Line capacity. Last years. tough as nails. beautiful finish. smooth reel action. cast as far as........Ahem....not going to say the next word out of politeness.
Cons
- none, unless you are a person who does not like to catch fish

Chad, the MC is a cast control feature that is found next to the clicker on the side plate. Allows you to make adjustments depending on the amount of weight you are casting. Models without MC in the model number do not have this cast control feature. Please let us know if we can assist with anything else.
