You would not. These reels come with the cam already installed.

You can certain go smaller. I highly doubt you will need as much line as the JX has the capacity for. This is a relatively high speed reel reel designed for billfish. A reel with a slower retrieval rate may be more suitable as you would have more cranking power over a giant catfish.
