Avet single speed reels include industry leading features unlike any other reel on the market. Featuring an adjustable strike pre-set lever drag system, precision machined 6061-T6 aluminum and stainless steel components, 8 rubber sealed stainless steel ball bearings, stainless steel gears and Avet's smooth, powerful Avedrag dry drag system. Avet single speed reels are at the peak of quality and performance. All Avet single speed reels are available with or without their M.C. Cast control system. (except HXW)

Avet 2-Speed Reels
Avet 2-speed reels include all of the quality features of our single speed reels, with 2-speeds. The simple, yet reliable gear shift mechanism built into the 2-speed models is so easy to operate that it becomes second nature almost immediately. The push button located at the center of the handle arm permits shifting between the high and low gears without your hand ever leaving the handle knob, and can be shifted with or without pressure, so you can shift while cranking, or when a fish is running. All Avet 2-speed lever drag casting reels (SX-HX) are available with or without their M.C. Cast control system.

Avet M.C. Cast Anti-Backlash / Cast Control
Avet's revolutionary M.C. Cast (Magic Cast) adjustable magnetic anti-backlash cast control system is available as an option on all of their single and 2-speed casting reels, SX through HX. The M.C. Cast control system incorporates Avet's Patented Adjustable Intensity Polar Amplification Technology to create the most efficient and easy to use cast control system for a conventional style reel. From the lightest bait to heavy lures, the M.C. Cast Control System is simple to use, even if you have never before cast a conventional style reel. Simply place your thumb on the spool to cast, swing, remove your thumb from the spool and let it fly! You will only need to thumb the spool when the lure hits the water.

Avet Raptor Series Reels
Avet Raptor Series Reels are the cutting edge in compact large game reels. These reels are consistently landing shockingly large fish in relation to their compact size. Designed for use with the ultra thin, super strong superbraid lines available today, it's now possible to target large game species with a reel half of the size and weight compared to a reel traditionally designed for similar monofilament line and drag capacities. And the Raptor has the drag and cranking power to back it up.

The Avet Raptor Series comes standard with Avet's innovative 2-speed gears and a ratcheting drag lever with a positive stop strike button to prevent accidental advancement past strike. Featuring Avet's patented DUAL DIRECT DRIVE Full Surface Caliper Brake System, Raptor models put out nearly twice the drag pressure of the original Avets! There's a Raptor model that will stop any fish in the ocean, yet small and light enough to cast. If you find a fish too big for a Raptor, you probably wouldn't want it near your boat! The Raptor Series reels are the same sizes as the original Avet reels, with enhanced line capacities, and each are engineered and built to fish several line classes heavier than the original Avet Reels.

Just an awesome reel! A real powerhouse for a hair over 29 ounces. Makes a terrific deep water jigging reel.
Pros
  • Lightweight and extremely powerful.
  • Beautiful fit and finish. The machining and finishing is flawless.
  • Plenty of line capacity for deep drop jigging and for when a pelagic comes along.
  • Plenty of drag (31 pounds max) for fighting the largest fish. Side plate lever drag makes setting and using the drag lever really easy and repeatable.
  • Gear ratio selections are perfect! 5.3 for bringing up your bait or for smaller species. 2.3 for reeling up the heavyweights like a reef donkey or big gag Grouper.
  • All in all - This is a fine piece of machinery.
Cons
  • Pricey but still less than other comparable reels. Considering the quality and utility, it's hard to say price is a con at all.

This thing is smooth!! I cant wait to wench up a giant gag grouper this season. Going to load it with 100lb braid and tack it to a heavy jigging rod. Love that I was able to spend my hard earned money on an American made product!

solid reel

Definitely a solid, well built reel but found one problem. The specs claim it will hold 920 yards of #50 braid. I tried several different brands eight strand braid and have not been able to spool more than 670 yards. The line was packed under 20+ # pressure so it is not loosely spooled.

Picked up two of these reels to do some jigging, bottom fishing, and light trolling. Holds 600 yards of 60# JB hollow with an 80# mono top shot. Took it outside to try it pitching baits and casting and love the narrow frame.
Pros
  • Light
  • Compact
  • Overkill on drag
Cons
  • the harness lugs seem a little small and might interfere with the drag lever because of it's compact size.

Man this reel is my favorite it's a narrow reel but I don't blame that it fantastic for tuna you can catch a bull shark on here also Marlin, mahi, wahoo, drums whatever else it could catch were you live it can catch a golioth grouper mabey if you put a t-bar-handle it might be. My brother has a hxw raptor mc cast 7th made and he can catch a 1000lb Marlin and hxw and hxj are close to the same size so it is good😁
Pros
  • I rate this pro reel it's made in America and made with plane aluminium so solid reel cheap for something this good so I would get it for sure

Plenty of drag in a compact size. We use these for grouper and snapper in the northern gulf of Mexico. Low gear is great for getting big fish away from the rocks.

HXJ raptor
I own two of these. I spooled the first one with 300yds of 100lb JB solid core and the second one with 300yds 80lb Momoi braid. These reels absolutely destroy bottom fish. They have more drag than I can handle without a harness. I really like how narrow the spool is on these models. These HXJs are great for jigging and live baiting big AJ's, I made very short work of some decent size sharks too. They are taller than the JX but they still feel good in the hand and I have no problem bottom fishing with them all day. I think they would be comparable in size and weight to a baja special. I plan on using these for chunking to yellowfins when I finally go (plan on using the JX too). Only issue with these reels is they do let some water in around the harness lugs. Not really a big issue though, as long as you have a light coat of grease inside the reel or if you clean it periodically I think you will be just fine.
Pros
  • aluminum body
  • 2-speed
  • cast control
  • stainless gears
  • very narrow spool
  • light weight
Cons
  • water intrusion at the lugs
  • dry drag washer
