Great Baha Surf Fishing Lure
March 24, 2021
I Learned that Pacific White Snook can be caught in the surf at Cabo San Lucas. I read some good reviews on the T-Hex and took one to Mexico with me. On the third cast I hooked up and after a 10 minute battle I landed a 27 inch Snook. I have caught Snook in Florida but this fish was really powerful. If you get a chance to surf fish in Baha I recommend you buy a couple of these. I was using a 7' casting rod with a 300 casting reel and 10 lb mono with 20 lb leader.

We can't get these in our local tackle stores here in California, so it's a new look for our highly pressured fishery, Thanks Tackle Direct for the hook up!

Great Caster

Lures casts extremely well. Works well when Peanuts are around and the fish are out far and windy days. Good quality finish and hardware.

Great for windy conditions
April 10, 2017
I used this lure surf fishing in Mexico. It's weight and shape allows long casts, even in windy conditions. It can be worked as top water with a fast retrieve, or lower in the water by slowing retrieve.
Pros
  • Can cast this lure very far in windy conditions.

Sandeel Run Necessity
December 29, 2016
when the fish are on sandeels, they're either at my feet or just out of reach. when they start moving away from the beach, the extra distance along with the ability to continue matching the super slim sandeel profile sets this lure apart from the rest of my sandeel imitations
Pros
  • rock hard finish that keeps its shine
Cons
  • none

Great casting lures. When I need a little extra distance I tie one of these on. Cuts through the wind very nicely.

Are you open to the public to purchase!

Hi Tom, The AOK Tackle T-Hex Metal Lures have been discontinued. I would recommend either the Runoff Sandeel Lures or Hopkins as a alternate sandeel imitation lure. https://www.tackledirect.com/runoff-sandeel-lures.html. https://www.tackledirect.com/search.html?query=hopkins Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Does anyone take off the o-ring when using TA clips or are you supposed to leave them on regardless?
1 Answer
I haven't tried these with a TA clip, but if you like the action without the O ring, you can certainly take it off. I would try it both ways and see if you prefer the action with or without. If you take it off and don't like it, you can always put it back on.

Hello. How does this manufacturer recommend these lures be worked in a surf fishing, casting application? Thank you for your time!
1 Answer
These can be worked along the bottom to imitate Sand eels. They ca be retrieved at mid water column to imitate bait fish. They can also be quickly retrieved across the surface like a bait fish trying to escape.
