The Andrus Lures Ball Jigs Bucktail is great for fluke fishing and feature quality hair that holds up. Andrus Lures, the makers of premium jigs. Great for targeting fluke, striped bass and weakfish in the bay, surf, inlet and inshore waters. Andrus Jigs are a favorite among surfcasting and inshore anglers.
Andrus is not skimpy with the hair. Their jigs are professionally tied with generous amounts (stuffed) with premium bucktail hair. Andrus jigs are made with high quality, strong, sharp hooks. Andrus Jigs are available in a variety of sizes and colors.

Quality made right here in the USA

Like most fishermen I fill my bag box truck house and garage with every enticing piece of tackle I can find!… But sometimes all it takes is this very well-made simple bucktail to catch!!!
Pros
  • Well-made right here in New Jersey
Cons
  • Sometimes may be hard to fine certain sizes? Because they catch!

Bad Paint Job
March 22, 2021
This 3-star review only applies to the black jigs. I bought many white jigs and they are great. I bought several black jigs at different weights and ALL are poorly painted (see picture; all look like that). These look nothing like the picture on the website. The picture on the website is solid black. Now I have to repaint these myself.
Pros
  • White jigs are painted well.
Cons
  • Black paint doesn?t cover the entire jig.

Fancy don't mean it catches more.......
May 10, 2020
You look at these things and say..... how do you fool a 20 year old fish with that!

But, you do...... Andrus jigs have more bucktail hair than pretty much any major commercial jig out there. More hair means more drag and more action.

Sometimes you want less drag, but often you want more in the water......

Solidly made jig. Hairs stays on. No hackisaki hook....... But a quality one that holds a point after a few rock bashes too...... Never bent a hook yet.........

Pros
  • A little less expensive than fancier ones, but durable, consistent from bucktail to bucktail.....

good price on a standard
January 13, 2020
I use the 1/8 oz and the 1/4 oz for jigging and casting for schooling rockfish, perch and spots off my dock.
Cons
  • The eye for the fishing line is pretty small and might need to widened.

Love to work back bay fluke with these and other bucktails
March 21, 2019
Especially while crabbing in the reeds. Throw your traps out, then grab one of these bad boys tipped with a gulp grub or a squid strip and you would be surprised how many larger fluke travel up those canals and away from the bay.

Great behind a casting egg

These bucks are great when using them with a casting egg. They are the perfect size to match the hatch with smaller bait.
Pros
  • Strong hook
