Andrus Lures, the makers of premium jigs. Great for targeting fluke, striped bass and weakfish in the bay, surf, inlet and inshore waters. Andrus Jigs are a favorite among surfcasting and inshore anglers.

Andrus is not skimpy with the hair. Their jigs are professionally tied with generous amounts (stuffed) with premium bucktail hair. Andrus jigs are made with high quality, strong, sharp hooks. Andrus Jigs are available in a variety of sizes and colors.

Love to work back bay fluke with these and other bucktails

Especially while crabbing in the reeds. Throw your traps out, then grab one of these bad boys tipped with a gulp grub or a squid strip and you would be surprised how many larger fluke travel up those canals and away from the bay.

Nice bucktail lure

This is a good bucktail lure. Used it to troll for rockfish as well as jigging around bridges. Works great for both applications. When trolling just added a teaser to the hook.
Pros
  • Good quality hair and price.

Good Bucktail

In my opinion, the Andrus Rip Splitter doesn't have enough hair, the Jetty Caster has just the right amount, this one is absolutely loaded with Bucktail which is a good thing is a lot of situations. I have the best luck with this ducktail off a boat in shallower waters.

Another good bucktail and cheap

both these and the jetty casters are my first choice especially if uncertain about the bottoms. SPRO’s are good too but a bit pricier. I wish Andrus made a few more color combos.

Plugs to buy when you are getting started

Andrus bucktails will generally be tied a bit bulkier so they will sink slower. As the trailer I'd stick with Uncle Josh 50-S rinds in red/white for now, but Uncle Josh 240-S in red/white.

I would like to know whether or not this bucktail, the Fixed Eye Lure, is just the Jettycaster with eyes. In particular, I am concerned about hair density, which is not the same in all Andrus bucktails. For example, the Smiley Bill has lower hair density than the Jettycaster. What about the Fixed Eye Lure? Thank you.

Rounder head than the jetty caster, same hair density as the rip splitter.
