ANDE Stand-Up rods are designed to place a great deal of strain on large fish while the angler stands up to do battle. Strength and lifting power are prime requirements in this rod type and are designed-in through the use of top quality materials and components.

The full length, blank through butt, dual layer graphite and fiberglass construction delivers plenty of strength and power. The strong solid tip aids enormously in lifting big fish. Ergonomic fore grip shape helps control rod and line. Aluminum gimbal butt fits all fighting belts. Fully under wrapped heavy duty fixed guide frames protect highly polished aluminum oxide guides for smooth, wear free line flow. Stainless steel roller stripper and tip top guides on ''R'' models provide smoother line flow and more fighting control. Corrosion proof machined aluminum reel seats with heavy duty machined hoods deliver greater strength without excess weight.

Bought this rod to give to my girlfriend and her kids to use on charter boats and head boats. It is light and sensitive enough that they both are smoking the fish.

Only negative, tip insert broke and started fraying line. I added a roller tip.. bows it about perfect.
Pros
  • Light weight
  • Sensitive
Cons
  • Tip Guide inserts break

I have 8 of these stand up rods now, have them in pairs to match reels but recently picked up 2 penn fathom 30LD2 (2 speed) reels so I picked up the 601 heavy rods.
In the past these rods have been hit or miss, have had completely surprise us with there pure power but then some that have broke so easily.
Over all great rod for the price.
Pros
  • Won't break the bank
  • They look good
  • Pretty solid...until they aren't
  • Nice reel seat
Cons
  • Eyes are cheap and break, all the time
  • Butt of rod is to short, an extra 2-3" would go a long way when fighting a fish from a standing position
  • Rods tend to break pretty easily not all of them

I was apprehensive about the rod at this price point. Pleasantly surprised. Muscled a 6-8’ Nurse Shark in 100’ of water paired with a Penn Squall 20LW reel and 50# braid. When people asked me where I got this rod and then tell them what it cost, they went home and ordered some too! Lots of backbone and a nice sensitivity tip.

I went out on a Head Boat and was disappointed with their gear so I started looking for a Rod and since I don't think that I would go out more than five to six times a year I didn't want to spend a lot but I wanted a good Rod , Well this hit all the marks , Value , Fit and finish , Planning to get a second one so if I can get my Wife or Son to go they'll have a setup too .
Pros
  • Value
Cons
  • No gimbel cover but that's no big deal .

Ande Stand-up heavy rods
July 3, 2019
Great purchase for the price.
Rods arrived and looked great
First trip out they held up pretty well, they say heavy tackle but are not exactly heavy duty. Great for bottom fishing for snapper, trigs, decent-big AJs but idk if they can handle a big shark or bigger AJ.
Overall great rod for the price.

Ande Stand-up rods
July 3, 2019
Purchased 4 of these rods to basically have some cheaper rods for snapper season and basic bottom fishing.
They look great for being rods in the cheaper end but held up great on our first trip out but time will tell.
Overall they seem to be worth the money.
Pros
  • Cheap price
  • Great look
Cons
  • None at this time but it will all come down to how well they hold up

Will a penn senator 14/0 fit on this rod. If not can I recommend other

Other rods.

1 Answer
Hi John, Unfortunately due to the large reel seat of the reel it will not fit on the ANDE Stand-Up Rods. I would recommend a Okuma PCH-TRS-6101XH PCH Custom Trolling Rod. Specifically model: PCH-TRS-6101XH; TD Code: OKM-1152. https://www.tackledirect.com/okuma-pch-trs-6101xh-pch-custom-trolling-rod.html This rod would be your best choice for a large Penn Senator 14/0 reel. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

What's the longest this rod can be?
1 Answer
Troy,

The ANDE Stand-Up Rods come in a manufactured length of about 6'0. They also come with a non-removable speed butt so there isn't a option of longer rod butt section on this series. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

Tsu-0156. Would it be a good combination if I paired it with a Penn squall 30-40ld. For sailfish tuna and grouper fishing
1 Answer
Both the 30 and 40 size Squalls would be a good fit for this rod. I would recommend the 40 if you're using monofilament line in order to get adequate line capacity for sailfish.
