Knot it to your bait and line like monofilament, but with greater flexibility and less stretch. Smaller in diameter per pound test, Surflon Micro Supreme is less visible in the water. Add a level of realism never before attainable - presenting life-like bait at any depth. Excellent for casting flies and tempting the most discriminating toothy fish to the surface.
  • extremely flexible
  • kink resistant
  • virtually no memory or stretch
  • high sensitivity

Slim Protection from Toothy Fish
April 9, 2022
I use surflon for leaders and assist hooks when I know there are toothy fish about that may tear up my lures/rigs. I bought the #60 surflon along with the #4 crimps. It is easy to work with and will knot well with a simple figure 8 knot. I am always impressed with how thin they managed to make a 7+1 strand. I also like the fact that it is vinyl wrapped so it holds up longer and is easier to work with for knotting. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because I was looking for clear and they only had black (COVID). (It is so slim that it wasnt a deal breaker)
Pros
  • Tough, slim, crimpable, easy to knot vinyl wrap.
Cons
  • Color choice

Great leader for decent sized sharks and bluefish for bait
March 21, 2019
Never once had an issue of being cut off with this stuff. It just seems to roll across the teeth and to the gums of even decent sized sharks without showing any really significant damage to it.

I use the coated leader wire for shark fishing while on vacation. It does a wonderful job.

AFW 210# coated
March 14, 2018
Just got back from the Keys and had a great trip. The coated leader never failed on 12 sharks, including an 8 foot tiger, 7.5 foot hammer, 2-8 foot+ nurse and a saw fish 12-13'. The sharks don't seem to shy away like they do using non-coated single strand leader.

Feels like mono line
December 7, 2017
I have been looking for goon fishing wire like mono line.
This is the one! I use this as hook length line for catching blue fish.
It is soft like mono line but it is very hard to be cut.

needs better labeling
July 25, 2015
At first look this appears to be the same product as the afw nylon coated 1x7 wire in bright except for being camo. However the wire and coating are different enough to require a larger sleeve, the same diameter as the 210 lb in bright/coated. I probably would not have bought this product if it was clearer that diameters were that much different. I think they should print the diameter sizes in mm on the labels. To get the same lure presentation as 135 bright coated, you need to drop down to the 90lb size in the camo. Seems backward to me since larger is more visible and stiffer.

Use it as a leader material for toothy fish
December 26, 2014
I used 60lb as a leader material for toothy fish (northern pike, musky). It is not that soft to tie a know with it, so I used metal sleeves and clamps to make a leader.
Pros
  • Reliable stuff
Cons
  • nylon coating gets scratched easily; due to the nylon coating the leader is somewhat thick - if you want thinner line, buy non-coated version
