Alijos Fighting Belt
Designed for use with 20-50lb. tackle
$84.95 USD
The AFTCO Alijos fighting belt is designed for use with 20-lb. to 50-lb. lines and is the perfect day belt for stand-up tussels with sailfish, dolphin, kingfish, small tuna, yellowtail and other smaller to medium-sized gamefish. Stamped from pure marine grade gold anodized aluminum with a super-comfortable over-molded, closed cell polyurethane pad, the Alijos accommodates the same Quick Clip nylon straps as the larger AFTCO fighting belts. The stainless steel gimbal cross pin is removable, but unique is the thermal-formed nylon liner inside the aluminum gimbal pocket that helps resist scarring. The Alijos is lightweight and easy to wear, yet offers the same heavy-duty features of the larger AFTCO fighting belts.
AFTCO Alijos Fighting Belt - The Premier Day Belt
  • Double box-stitched, ultra heavy duty, adjustable 2in. nylon web straps, and top quality, corrosion proof quick-release nylon buckles.
  • Lightweight stamped aluminum front plate, deeply anodized in a gold finish for extreme durability and corrosion resistance. AFTCO logo is permanently laser etched into the aluminum.
  • Super thick, closed-cell EVA foam back pad for superior comfort.
  • Stainless steel cross pin is removable from aluminum gimbal pocket, which is lined with thermal-formed nylon to resist scarring.

Great Belt for long day at the rail
August 22, 2021
I got this belt to fill in the gap of a full stand-up rig for 80#, and not having anything on 30-50# and getting a gut bruise from fighting yellowtails and small tuna all day. Quick snaps make putting it on and taking it off super easy and quick. I pulled the gimbal pin out, as most of my light rods do not have a gimbal buttcap- and just use the cup. Works exactly how I hoped it would and the quality is amazing. Light enough and small enough to not be in the way, but just big enough to distribute pressure and give me the relief I was looking for - enjoying the 10th fight of the day just as much as the first. It fits all my fishing buddies who have all tried it - I have a 32" waist, but was easy to adjust to a 40" waist and even my daughter with a 27" waist can use it.
Pros
  • Premium quality workmanship
  • Lightweight
  • Just enough padding, but not too much to be in the way
  • Perfect size for light duty and with the pin back in, used with my 50# gear as well
  • Quick snaps work well and very solid
  • Super wide belt doesn't slip down or move

Lightweight stand up fighting belt
August 15, 2021
Belt looks great and very small. You can adjust the belt to fit, then the quick release clips make the belt easy to remove or put on quickly. I would give it 5 stars but the triangle shape with the clips mounted high cause the lower section to not sit flat against until you put the butt of the rod in the receiver. I still like it because it is easy to pack and I think it will last a long time.
Pros
  • Looks good. Lightweight and durable. Quick attach.
Cons
  • Doesn't sit flat against your body when put on until loaded with rod.

the best small belt

I have had a number of belt over the years and for a long time there they really were not necessary for California but the Bluefin have changed that. I bought the next larger size Afto belt but it is pretty big... A great belt but you don't want to wear it more than you need to.
The Alijos belt is a great alternative. I doesn't get in the way but provides lots of support when needed.
Obviously construction is top notch, too.
Pros
  • Great smaller size
  • Material and construction is excellent.
  • Style is cool.
Cons
  • none

Great and Light in Weight
June 28, 2018
I ordered the Aftco BELT3GLD Alijos Fighting Belt and was concerned it would be too small, but it is perfect. I am not after marlin, but for mahi this is perfect. Well built and heavily padded, but still light in weight yet does not take up much storage space in my center console boat.

Glad I took a chance on this product and very pleased.
Pros
  • Well made, light in weight and quick to deploy.
Cons
  • A tad costly, but if it should hold up for years, then worth the cost.
