It works as a sharpener. A fail safe way to straiten the edge of the blade. When worked together with a stone or diamond slab one can maintain the sharpness quickly and easily for the life of the knife.

Does not matter whether it's in the kitchen or on the boat it will keep your knives razor sharp with a few swipes. great to use on boats when cutting up bony baits or crabs and the trusty old knife gets dull.
