Has to be the lightest reel in its class. Paired it with a seeker black diamond series and it feels unbelievable. Still yet to be field tested but this is going to be a machine!!

Great reel

This is my second BV2/800, They are great reels and hold up to the punishment I put them through fishing off of my jet ski. My reels are always wet and a lesser brand would and have failed pretty quick.

So far I’m impressed with this reel; make sure that you put the right line diameter in it: The correct way, to get the 600 yards that it can hold.
Spec said to use Tufline braided line I use maxcuatro 80# and I was able to put 620 yards on it and still have space for a 25’ 100 # fluorocarbon leader.

Beautiful reel

I landed a 140 pound sturgeon on a guided trip on the Fraser river, the guide had 6 valiant 800's

Performed very well and had no problems . He had them spooled with 150 pound braid . They regularly take several hundred pound sturgeon . Two weeks before we got there they landed one over 600 pounds on a valiant 800

The Future of Big Game Fishing

I know there is a lot of hype surrounding the weight of the valiant reels, but how about the power. I landed an 80 lb Bluefin on my BV2-400, so I know I can land a Cow Tuna with the BV2-800. An early Christmas present for myself. I feel sorry for all of the Denizens of the deep that have to face me now thay I have this reel in my arsenal.

Does this model come with a “T” handle or the knob? I ordered one that came with the T handle but all the pictures show the knob.
1 Answer
The only Accurate reel that comes with the power handle is the Accurate Boss Valiant Slow Pitch Conventional Reel. Other than that, each Boss Valiant series rod comes with the standard knob.

How does this compare with the Talica 25?
1 Answer
The BV2-800 is very comparable to the Talica 25 in terms of performance. They have very similar line capacities and the drag on the Talica is only slightly higher. The Accurate reels do not have that smooth effortless retrieve that Shimano is known for, but the most notable difference is that the Boss Valiant is significantly lighter weight than the Talica. That being said, they're both fantastic reels and are arguably the best two lever drag conventionals on the market.

What maximum size tuna for this reel?
1 Answer
The limitations in terms of fish size that the Valiant can handle essentially comes down to line capacity. As far as maximum drag and overall structural integrity, I have my doubts that any tuna under 250 lbs. would outclass this reel.
