Designed for the inshore angler. The Revo Inshore Generation 3 baitcasting reel is durable with a highly anti corrosive frame and bearings. Fight large inshore species with the new extended handle with large EVA knobs on this reel. This reel is newly designed to be more compact, which allows for additional line capacity without an increase in the reel width. This Abu Garcia reel also comes equipped with D2 Gear design, this is the new next generation of Duragear. The Duragear provides more efficient gear system while improving overall durability as well. The Revo Inshore sideplates are precision engineered with C6 carbon sideplates for signifigant weight reduction without having to give up strength or durability. The Pitch Centrifugal brake utilizes, 6 brake blocks (3 spring loaded and 3 non spring loaded). The spring loaded brake blocks act only when the spool is under high revolution (1st part of the cast) and will then disengage to give maximum distance. The non spring loaded brake blocks act on the entire cast to give maximum control throughout the cast.

Features:
  • 6 High Performance Corrosion Resistant (HPCR) bearings + 1 roller bearing provides increased corrosion protection
  • X2- Cräftic alloy frame
  • C6 carbon sideplates
  • Carbon Matrix drag system provides smooth, consistent drag pressure
  • D2 Gear Design
  • Pitch centrifugal brake system
  • Large EVA knobs provide improved grip
  • Extended bent handle for increased cranking power
  • Ti coated line guide reduces friction and improves durability
  • Dual anti reverse

Excilent satwater inshore reel.

Have used this reel on two trips to Belize now as well as several seasons of heavy cover bass fishing. Has brought in many 15 to 20# Tarpon, Snook, Jacks and Snapers as well as numbers of 3 to 6# bass in heavy weed beds. Can easily cast spool empty wit 50# braid or 20# floro. This would be my only complaint. Even with 30# braid, as designed for, it could use another 50 yard capacity.

Altough i am partial to mag casting drag systems as in the Revo fresh water versions i use. The mechanical cast drag system works well when understood. And yes! It has a casting drag under left cover. Being a mechanical cast drag system. The friction system does wear out after several thosand casts with 1/2 oz to 2 oz baits. Am changing them for first time. All six friction brakes are toast.
Pros
  • Just plain good all round.
Cons
  • 50 yards more line capacity with 50# braid would make it perfect.

Thumb bar
March 5, 2019
Total piece of garbage. Used it for a few times and the thumb bar stopped re-engaging. Smashing it with the palm of my hand worked for a few trips, but even that stopped being effective. Sent it back. Repair guy said it was my fault because I didn’t clean it - total BS. Was meticulously washed down after each use. He “fixed” it for 45$ - guaranteed never to happen again... came back scratched. Anyway...

Went back out on the water - three casts in. Same issue. Nearly threw the whole thing in the ocean. Sitting on my workbench as a reminder to never buy this brand again...

Don’t do it.
Pros
  • Pretty!
Cons
  • See review. Save your money - way better reels out there for less cash.

Solid Reel, Wpuld like some tweeks

Great reel for inshore artificials. I was disappointed with the casting distance with this reel. The reel has an automatic braking system.. the only adjustments you can make are to the spool tension knob. Other than that, solid drag and construction. I enjoy fishing it.
Pros
  • Strong Construction
  • Good drag
Cons
  • In ability to adjust brakes for lure weight/wind

Abu Garcia Got it Right

I've been using this reel for a season now, and I have to say I love it. The braking system is fantastic and does not require adjustment. The drag is smooth and I loke the drag clicker personally. Some may be turned off to the noise, but it doesn't bother me when I'm hooked up. The reel does make a good bit of noise when casting, this is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.

The reel does exceedingly well with baits in the 1/2 oz and up range, any lighter and you may start to have some problems. I usually fish tandem 3/8 jig/gulp and topwater lures with this reel though so it does not affect me.

She is a little on the pricey side, but I think with regular maintenance it will last many years.
Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Smooth Drag
  • Looks great
  • Innovative Braking System
  • Line Capacity
Cons
  • A little noisy on the cast

Abu Garcia Revo Inshore Gen 3
February 7, 2014
Bought this reel in July 2013. Took it out on 3 weekend trips and the Thumb Disengage stopped working - It would go to free spool but then would not re-engage when the crank handle was turned. Required aggressive percussive maintenance after every cast.

The reel was properly cleaned and lubed after each trip and stripped once it stopped working but I could not get it to work. It now sits unused in my tackle draw. Surprising given the cost of the reel and the rep of Abu Garcia reels.
Pros
  • Very Light - Nice smooth retrieve. Setting the right brakes took a lot of trial and error and lots of overwinds.
Cons
  • Very unreliable - Broke after 8 hrs of fishing.
