Wouldn't dream of exposing it to saltwater in the slightest though. be a nice baitcaster for some big pike or muskies on the other hand

I've got 3 of these and they work great...I only use them for fresh water since they have a level wind. They'll handle anything in the fresh, period. Great drag, cast well, easy to use and a loud clicker. Wench up the top of a tree pulling umbrella rigs last time, didn't even phase it.

What rod would you suggest for this reel? Plan is to use it mostly at the Jetties and in the surf throwing lures and the occasional mullet.

This largely depends on the weight of the lures you will be using and the length of rod you will want to use. If it is a Surf rod that you are looking for then I'd suggest looking into the St. Croix Mojo Surf Casting rods. Good inshore rods in the 7 foot range would be the St. Croix Mojo Inshore, Shimano Teramar.
