I got this as my first baitcaster and couldn't be happier. I got the 7' MH version and use it spooled with 12lb mono. I have used this combo in a lot of different applications. Used it for largemouth, smallies, stripers, rock fish, surf perch (yes from the surf and it was great). This combo has done amazing. Reel is a tank although worth cleaning if it feels rough. The rod is though but guides are flimsy which is the only negative I have encountered so far.

Great for first time fisherman learning how to use a baitcast. Feels alittle cheap in the hand but that's expected for a reel in this price range. Overall good find for beginers

This is a great starter combo for baitcasting beginners. I bought this combo when I started out. I have since upgraded but I would recommend this abu combo to anyone who is just starting out on baitcasters

The reel is nice quality compared to the price. I can see that the drag is not so good (or maybe it's only the item I got). I purchased a taller handle and I use it for light jigging now instead of casting. it's light and fast retrieving.

Can't beat the value of this rod. Has a great action and can throw even the lightest of soft plastics. Reel is also very smooth. Would recommend as a decent spare rod for the price.

This was my first bat casting combo and it worked like a charm. I threw just about everything on this rod and have had it for about 3 years now and have had no problmes
