The slim, tapered shape of AFTCO's Tapper-Tip Aluminum Gaffs make them lightning fast in the water - easier to maneuver and deadly accurate. They're stronger and lighter too, so they bring fish into the boat with less flailing and confusion. The shafts are made from corrosion-resistant marine aluminum and they are "swaged" for uniform strength from end to end, but with no unnecessary weight.

Aftco Taper-Tip Aluminum Gaffs Features
- All models are fitted with soft but rugged black grips molded from the same non-slip material found on the finest fishing rods.
- Black vinyl butt caps seal out corrosive moisture and prevent deck scarring.
- All gaffs float except those with 3/8 and 1/2-inch rod-diameter hooks.

If you are planning on catching big fish, you really should carry both for different situations. Makes it so much easier to get tail ropes on a lot of different species when you get them up to the boat. Aftco has always made good products.

Hefty enough to keep the large ones from getting away but the gauge of the hook is a bit large for smaller game fish. Wish it had a pre-frilled hole for a wrist lanyard.

Haven't had a chance to use it yet due to the bad weather last weekend but it feels rock solid. Not heavy but solid. Another great product by AFTCO! Also the gold color looks sharp sticking form the rocket launcher.
