The Shorty resembles baitfish with thick bodies that are heavier than conventional spoons for improved casting or deep jigging. Great for freshwater or saltwater species, this lure has a hammered finish which creates a very strong appeal to fish.

These lures have 2 features which make them more efficient than other lures of the same genre. They mimic schooling shad very closely and the other feature is due to their makeup, they can be cast into moderate to heavier wind conditions much easier than a lighter weight lure.

Versatile lure
November 16, 2021
My favorite thing about this lure is how I can modify it. It has a great flutter right out of the package. But then I'll replace the treble with a bucktail, or take some nail polish and paint it (or partly paint it) different colors. I've had great success with this lure catching fish, and who knows if my arts and crafts had anything to do with its success, but I enjoy looking in my lure bag and seeing my lure of many colors.
Pros
  • great action

Fall Magic
September 16, 2021
On our lake this is a go to in the fall off the points and on flats adjacent to deep water . We use 10 braid and a 3 ft 15 lb fluorocarbon leader . Fished vertical or casting it throws off a lot of flash and appears to be a wounded bait fish . Rip and let it fall on a semi slack line and hold on !
Pros
  • Heavy enough for deep water and casts nice
Cons
  • Sometimes if you get to aggressive when fishing vertical the treble will hang up on the line

I've had this lure for about as long as I can remember, but although it has good action and can cast far. I have never had great luck with this lure and think there are better spoons on the market.
Pros
  • Classic
  • Good terminal
Cons
  • Falling behind with new technology and newer lures
