13 Fishing Concept Z Reels are the first to have zero ball bearings. They are high performing reels that deliver excellent casting and accuracy like no other reels. The bearings are high-tech polymer Concept Zero Bearings (CZB). Traditional bearings have moving parts that corrode, break down, and lose their performance edge over time. CZB technology allows the Concept Z to maintain its peak casting performance because the material experiences no corrosion. CZB technology is extremely quiet while casting, offering the angler a completely new experience.

  • CZB - Concept Zero bearing technology
  • Ocean Armor 2 saltwater protection process
  • 22 lbs Bulldog drag
  • 13 Tech EVA handle knobs
  • 6 way centrifugal braking system
  • Arrowhead line guide
  • Beetle wing Rapid access side plate
  • Dead stop anti-reverse
  • Japanese Hamai Cut gearing

I've only fished this a couple times, but it casts like a dream and the controls are easy to operate so I can make changes on the fly without hardly missing a beat.

Great Reel for the price
February 13, 2019
Although this reel is $200, the price is perfect for this quality of function. This reel can cast a mile and has the perfect amount of lock down drag, when fishing in heavy grass. This reel is worth the price.

Favorite reel

I own many 13 fishing reels and the concept Z is definitely my favorite of them all, other brands included. It’s very smooth, light, quiet and casts extremely well and far. Spooled with 30lb power pro it does great for pulling big bass out of thick cover and heavy vegitation. It’s definitely a good reel for the price point
Pros
  • Smooth
  • Quiet
  • Cast far
  • Light
  • Easy to use

Great Reel
November 8, 2018
The reel is very smooth and lives up to the hype. I primarily fish in south eastern Florida. The reel preforms great in the saltwater as long a you take the time to take care of it. The build and components off the reel, if taken care of will undoubtedly last a life time. Routine maintenance is key, a high end good quality reel oil is a must with this reel to keep the polymer disks lubed. The only thing I've noticed with this reel that could be considered a negative, is that the reel tends to be an oil hog. Like a said previously the disks must be lubricated frequently to execute peak performance for the reel. Other than that the reel is a beast. Ive caught quite a few 30+ inch snook on it. Overall very good reel for the money.
Pros
  • smooth
  • durable
  • responsive
  • strong

A friend of mine told me to pick one up after he was at Icast. So I did. I then offered to host his wedding in my backyard. Not sure I'd recommend hosting a wedding as it turns out, but I would definitely recommend this reel. Getting another one myself in the 6.6 gear ratio this time. I am red orange color blind so the color isn't that important to me anyway, but occasionally it clashes against my shirts.
Pros
  • Smoothness
  • Casting Distance
  • Casting Control
  • Drag Power
Cons
  • Color
  • I think I like their cork knobs better. Might have to swap to those.

Can you go into details about using or not using braided line on this reel. 13 concept Z

I would highly recommend using braided line on this reel. Power Pro 40 lb or 50 lb would be best sizes to go with for this reel.

what is the heaviest monofilament and or braided fishing line this reel will handle or is designed for,

I wouldn't advise using any line with a thicker diameter than 20# fluorocarbon or mono.
